My church needs a new church. With more than 4,000 families and built for a much smaller congregation, we’ve become to large for the 650 seat main sanctuary and the overflow services at the meeting hall in the school.
The building committee has been meeting for almost a year and had
it’s first public showing of the proposed changes at a Saturday morning
presentation in the church sanctuary. Several hundred people listened
as our pastor, head of the building committee and the architect
discussed the plans and showed a computer slideshow of the project.
Going from 650 seats to 1,500 creates a number of problems
considering that we are limited by zoning and planning rules from
placing the church building anywhere but near the main street. That,
and the need to close a public road adjacent to the school makes the
project very complicated. If we are not allowed to close the road there
isn’t a second choice.
