BW Conversion

One of the difficulties of photographing this stand of evergreens at Hoover Dam is its size. There are few places to stand in its small interior where strong light from outside the perimeter breaks apart the dense forest backdrop creating points of light that distract from the repeating pattern of trees.

I’ve few photos from the stand that work well other than showing the trees arrangement or color.

The wet snow today offered an opportunity in black and white to incorporate the streaks of light into the composition lessening their distracting power. I also stayed near the perimeter to give me more rows of trees for the repeating pattern and to better break up the bright backdrop.

The exposure (EXIF) was on a tripod for greater depth of field and detail.
