If fishing is a form of relaxation, I’m envious. Even on a Monday after a long weekend there were chores, assignments and required tasks. Took a little personal time to get this frame.

I’m always amazed at the struggle to seize possession of freebies from vendors at the weekend. Free bites of sliced protein and carb bars, plastic-wrapped single servings of high-energy capsules and pills, sips from thimble-sized cups holding the latest muscle building or fat removing refreshment, t-shirts advertising products and companies, and plastic drink containers all fall within grasp of  fitness fans who’ve spent their $10 to get in the door and want to leave with more than just memories.

New to the Arnold Sports Festival was an amateur event where men bodybuilders performed their routines on the expo stage for all to see.

What began as a simple bodybuilding competition 20 years ago has evolved into a three-day fitness expo with 17,000 athletes participating in events ranging from fencing and table tennis to powerlifting athletes straining with 1,000 pound weights. Included were several international champion Sumo wrestlers showing their skills. [ More Photos in the Archive ]

One of the annual events that happens on unscheduled days are the return of potholes. I’ve covered their emergence for many years and am always surprised as the volume, size, shape, and location of their appearance. This year is no different.

What makes the work easier is they appear almost everywhere. No long distance travels through heavy traffic. Just turn the corner at the closest main intersection and they appear.
